Position Summary:
The inspector/packer of Blow Molding Operations is responsible for the inspection and packing of products being produced. This responsibility includes repetitive visual inspection, checking and packing of blow molded parts using prescribed methods and techniques and performing a variety of utility tasks such as, but not limited to, material handling, housekeeping, grinding, and operation of secondary equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Provide lead role for the 100% visual inspection of production and sample run parts, assuring that all non-conforming parts are segregated for grind or reevaluation. Any repetitive or excessive non-conformance is immediately communicated to the machine technician. Inspector/packer has full authority to initiate job shutdown based on prescribed methods and techniques to identify non-conforming parts.
· Provide assistance, direction and support for 1st piece approvals for both production and sample run parts and assist in sample run evaluation by pulling audit pieces at prescribed intervals.
· Provide lead role in the packing of all acceptable production and sample run parts. Packing is performed at a rate corresponding to the cycle time required to produce each part and as a result, due to their primary responsibility of inspection, occasionally require assistance in packing.
· Provide the additional inspection and packing responsibilities of assembling boxes for packing, applying labels to each box of completed parts, the appropriate sign-off on each label, taping for shipment and loading of the boxes onto a skid.
· Perform grind operation, secondary operations, material handling or any other utility task, whenever necessary.
· Maintain a safe and clean work environment which includes daily housekeeping, etc.
· Provide any necessary training; transfer of skills, etc., whenever required and to whoever selected, in order to enhance the knowledge, skills, flexibility and continual improvement and growth of Meredith-Springfield.
· Provide necessary and appropriate communication to facilitate the success of the blow molding operations.
Requirements:
· High School Degree preferred.
· Good judgment, common sense and communication skills required.
· Prior inspection or manufacturing experience desired.
· Ability inspect parts and make judgment of product quality.
· Ability to juggle multiple tasks.
· Flexibility to cover multiple machines runs and provide breaks for co-workers.
